Zhuang Meixi is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political and Social Change at The Australian National University. She is currently writing a PhD dissertation about the politics of local public supervision in China. This project seeks to understand how Chinese citizens manage to hold local government accountable in an authoritarian environment. The project uses Wenzhou city’s Civil Monitory Organization as the main case, and chooses several other sites in Zhejiang province and Guangxi province for comparison. Based on her fieldwork data, Meixi has recently published an article in Journal of Contemporary China. Prior to coming to ANU, she had previously studied at The University of Nottingham, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Communication University of China. Meixi is the recipient of ANU University Research Scholarship and ANU HDR Fee Remission Merit Scholarship
