Rizqa Ahmadi Nyaman completed his Bachelor of Islamic Theology at The al-Azhar University, Egypt in 2009. After completing his BA, he obtained a Masters scholarship from the Ministry of Religious Affairs to study at the Quranic Studies Institute, Jakarta. He commenced his PhD candidature at the Sunan Ampel Islamic State University Department of Islamic Studies in 2017. His PhD research is focused on Hadith Reception of Local Sufism in East Java with case studies of Shalawat Wahidiyyah and Tarekat Shiddiqiyyah. Those two communities are the name of Sufi orders in Indonesia.
Prior to beginning his PhD, Rizqa was a Lecturer at State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung in the Department of Tasawuf dan Psikoterapi. Before that, Rizqa spent two years (2013-2105) as a lecturer at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta in the Department of Arabic Literature. Currently, he is a PIES student at the Australian National University’s Department of Political and Social Change. His work is supervised by Professor James Fox.
