Zulfatun Ni’mah joined the Department of Political and Social Change as a visiting fellow through the Partnership in Islamic Education Scheme (PIES) for 2018. Before she came to ANU, she was a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, where she also received her Masters of Law degree. The topic of her PhD thesis is “Legal Protection for Unilaterally Divorced Women”, exploring the case of talak in the Sasak community on Lombok in Indonesia. Other than her Ph. D thesis, Zulfa is also interested in research on sociology of family law and legal pluralism. Currently, she is a lecturer in Tulungagung State Institute for Islamic Studies in East Java.
